ExcEl Award Story Grant 2023

The Southeast Asian region is facing years of democratic parties, starting with the presidential election in Timor Leste in mid-2022, the presidential election in the Philippines in 2022, and in 2024 Indonesia, as the largest democracy in the region, will elect a president.

Implementing fair and free elections is a principle that must exist in elections. However, is this principle properly implemented in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Timor Leste? The challenge for democracy today is implementing substantive democracy when elections are held. It even becomes a phenomenon when democracy becomes transactional when elections occur. In addition, the spread of hoaxes for certain political interests also reduces the quality of democracy.

We at the Indonesian Media Development Association (PPMN) under USAID Support in The Asia Pacific Regional Support for Elections and Political Transition (RESPECT) Program invite journalists in the Southeast Asian region, especially journalists in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Timor Leste, to submit the proposal at https://s.id/StoryGrantsExcElAward.

ExcEl Award Story Grants is an event for giving coverage grants to improve the quality of coverage. Previously, the ExcEl award was an award for journalistic works, but this year, the Excel Award Story Grant will provide coverage grants to journalists.
